Just-in-time mentoring
Just-in-time mentoring
Tools: Podcasting
The facilitator will need access to:
- microphones and recording tools, such as a computer or MP3 player
- a computer with audio editing software to edit sound files
- a computer with access to the internet to upload files.
Strategies: knowledge sharing; conversation; mentoring
Use the podcast to provide guidance and support to students as they complete a major project.
Steps:
- Find one student every week to be your partner who asks questions that they (or other students) may have that relate to the project.
- Record the conversation and make it available as a podcast.
- The following week choose another student and try to tailor issues that relate to the stage of the project.
Taken from an example by Andrew Middleton, Sheffield Hallam University podcast project.
