Topic summaries

Tools: wiki; online forum (optional)

Strategies: resource making; collaborative research; peer review

For a given subject, the facilitator places a list of topics onto a wiki. Students are encouraged to pick a topic by placing their name next to it on the wiki, or to add a new topic and place their name next to it. Students are asked to provide a brief summary of the topic, with references on the wiki, possibly prior to doing a class presentation on the topic. Over time this resource will continue to grow. Students could also be encouraged to add to the topics that are already there, (much like a mini version of Wikipedia) by adding resources and further explanations, which they feel are necessary to help someone understand the topic.
